Santo Tomas Municipal Administrator Atty. Elisa Evangelista-Lapiña said the free legal consultation by the Evangelista administration is in support of the efforts of the government to provide free legal services to residents of Santo Tomas.

According to Lapiña, Dangpanan Ni Tomas also provides professional services for public interest cases and legal issues which affect society.“
Ang Dangpanan Ni Toamas, dili lang limitado sa paghatag og medical ug hospital services, mas gipakusgan pud nato ang maghatag og legal services kay kita nasayod na daghang Tomasino ang nanginahanglan aning programa,” she said.
Lapiña added that the pandemic has greatly increased the number of people seeking legal assistance, especially those who lost jobs or had their wages cut.
Lapiña explained that some residents are hesitant to seek the help of lawyers because of the costs involved. The existence of free legal services under the Dangpanan ni Tomas will hopefully help bridge the gap and allow greater access to legal services.
“We are advocating free legal consultations for all Tomasinos. Kini na programa gibutang nato sa ubos sa Dangpanan Ni Tomas kay tungod nakita nato ang dako na panginahanglan sa taga Santo Tomas ilabi na paghatag og legal na serbisyo para sa katawhang Tomasino,” Lapiña said.
Atty. Vevirlie Orga-Gallo and Atty. Evangelista-Lapiña are resident lawyers in the Dangpanan Ni Tomas. To date, the two lawyers provided various legal services on issues concerning property, family relations, contractual relations, criminal cases, estafa, theft, violence against women and children, accidents, labour, and notarial services, among others.
