Senator Richard Gordon blasted President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday, September 15, for criticizing the ongoing investigation by the Senate blue ribbon committee into allegedly anomalous pandemic contracts linked to a former economic adviser of the President.
Gordon, chairman of the Senate blue ribbon committee, in the midst of yesterday’s hearing, dished out a mouthful at the President, calling him a cheap president for defending Chinese national Michael Yang, his former economic adviser, and former budget undersecretary Lloyd Christopher Lao.
Gordon unleashed his blast as the President continued to defend Yang and Lao, former head of the Procurement Services -Department of Budget Management (PS-DBM).

Duterte has been criticizing Gordon as soon as the blue ribbon started its probe into the Covid-19 supply deal that was triggered by an audit report by the Commission on Audit (COA) on the multi-billion-peso coronavirus pandemic response fund. Of late, he has ordered the COA to also conduct an audit on funds given to the Philippine Red Cross, which is chaired by Gordon.
