Duterte has been criticizing Gordon as soon as the blue ribbon started its probe into the Covid-19 supply deal that was triggered by an audit report by the Commission on Audit (COA) on the multi-billion-peso coronavirus pandemic response fund. Of late, he has ordered the COA to also conduct an audit on funds given to the Philippine Red Cross, which is chaired by Gordon.

Yang, is said to have bankrolled a company which earned a multi-billion-peso contract, approved by Lao, to supply Covid-19 equipment and supplies awarded to Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation in 2020.

“I am really sorry for you, Mr. President. Ang ipinagtatanggol ’nyo si Lao? May utang na loob kayo dahil sa eleksiyon? You are a cheap politician, Mr. President. Cheap politician, as cheap as they come, Mr. President. I’m sorry,” said Gordon as he presided over the 7th hearing of the blue ribbon committee on the allegedly anomalous supply deal.
