DAVAO DEL NORTE: Cash aid given to hospitalized diarrhea patients of Sto. Tomas town

SANTO TOMAS, Davao del Norte —Patients who fell ill with diarrhea and were admitted in private and public hospitals received a financial assistance from the municipal government through Mayor Ernesto Evangelista’s Dangpanan Ni Tomas.

Municipal Administrator Atty. Elisa Evangelista-Lapiña said the Evangelista administration was using all available resources and manpower to help the affected residents of Barangay Tulalian.

“Walang iwanan for Barangay Tulalian. Gibubo nato ang atong resources sa Barangay Tulalian para makatabang ang Santo Tomas LGU sa maong barangay luyo sa hulga sa COVID-19 ug ang atoang ginasagubang karon na diarrhea outbreak,” Lapiña said.

The Santo Tomas LGU, Lapiña added, had been at the barangay Tulalian’s ground zero since at the start of the outbreak last July 15 to provide immediate health and sanitation services to the affected residents.

According to Lapiña, the municipal government of Santo Tomas has been funneling more aid to Barangay Tulalian to help the community back on its feet.

“Sa level sa Santo Tomas LGU, naningkamot na mahatagan nato og paspas na tabang ang Barangay Tulalian. Dili nato kini biyaan kay dako kini ang nahimong impact sa community kay kini na isyu health and public welfare mani sa katawhan ang nabutang sa peligro. Padayon atong paghatag og tabang sa mga residenteng apektado sa maong outbreak,” Lapiña said.

Lapiña also said that her office is coordinating with Davao del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib, and Congressman Alan Dujali for the availment of “zero billing” policy for hospitalized diarrhea patients.

“Dako atong pasalamat kay pinaagi sa Dangpanan Ni Tomas makakuha pa kita og assistance gikan kang Governor Jubahib, og Congressman Dujali para maka avail sa zero billing human mahatagan og assessment,” she said

Carlo Jack Pino, executive assistant II, and focal of DNT program said the Santo Tomas LGU under the Evangelista administration was was taking all the necessary steps to provide financial assistance to cash-strapped patients admitted in various hospitals.

“Nagmando si Mayor Tatay Erning Evangelista na hatagan og cash assistance ang mga diarrhea patients na admitted sa mga hospitals.

Gilantaw gayud ni Mayor Erning ang kahimtang sa mga patients labi na katong mga bata, ug mga seniors na naa gihapon sa balay tambalanan,” Pino said.

Cash aid to hospitalized patients

Pino said they began distributing cash relief assistance on Tuesday, July 20, to several patients who were confined in hospitals as part of the Evangelista administration’s response to the diarrhea outbreak.

As of Tuesday, 88 patients received cash aid from Evangelista’s Dangpanan Ni Tomas, while some patients opted to receive milk, diapers and other goods intended for young children, according to Pino.

Pino added that the distribution of cash assistance to diarrhea patients who were confined in hospitals was a “work in progress.”

“Rest assured, ang Santo Tomas LGU ubos sa administrasyong Evangelista maningkamot na muhatag og sakto na serbisyo ug hinabang sa mga Tomasino labi na diha sa Barangay Tulalian. Kami maningkamot na mahatagan ang tanan og cash assistance para lang naa sila magamit sa hospital labi na ang pagpalit sa mga tambal,” Pino said.
