The deadly Covid-19 Delta variant has now infected 47 Pinoys as the Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday reported 12 new cases of the variant that sent the Philippines into bracing for the new threat of the virus that is now spreading in Southeast Asia.
The Philippines is doubling its preparations in case the country is hit by the highly-transmissible variant that has swept through Indonesia and Thailand,
DOH said the new cases were from Central Luzon, 6; Calabarzon, 2; Bicol, 1; and Metro Manila, 3.
All cases have been tagged as recovered but still being validated by our regional and local health offices. DOH said.
The health agency said it has already implemented ‘enhanced response’ in areas where the cases were detected.
he DOH also reported the detection of 187 cases of the Alpha variant, 142 cases of the Beta variant, and 12 new cases of the Theta variant.
This means the country now has a total of 1,668 cases of the Alpha variant, 1,827 cases of the Beta variant, and 233 cases of the Theta variant.
