Heavy downpour caused the collapse on Tuesday of a vital bridge in a town in Davao del Norte , forcing authorities to temporarily close the area to ensure the safety of the motorists and banana plantation workers.

Punong Barangay Allan Magallanes sought the assistance of Mayor Ernesto Evangelista and Municipal Administrator Atty. Elisa Evangelista-Lapiña for the repair of the collapsed bridge.
In a statement, Lapiña said the Santo Tomas LGU coordinated already the situation to TADECO, adding that the banana firm has pledged to provide the materials needed while the Santo Tomas LGU would provide the manpower to fix the collapsed bridge
Meanwhile, on the same day, Mayor Ernesto Evangelista led the distribution of food packs to the 500 Tomasino residents in Barangay San Jose, and Kimamon who sought the assistance of Dangpanan Ni Tomas, the town’s relief unit providing immediate assistance to residents in distress. .
