The mayor said the provision of a water supply through the distribution of jetmatic pump aims to have a better water accessibility in remote communities especially since water is essential for household use such as in laundry, cooking and other domestic chores.

To date, the Evangelista administration donated jetmatic water pumps in Barangay Pantaron, Barangay Tibal-og, Barangay San Jose, Barangay Magwawa, Barangay Kimamon among others.

Through the “Tomasino Agos” water projects, several residents from these barangays have become beneficiaries of the Evangelista administration’s community-based ‘Tomasino Agos’ water project.

A unit of jetmatic water pump was given to the family-beneficiary where several households could use the water facility.

“Kining tubig man gud importante kaayo ni maong atong ginapadayon ang ‘Tomasino Agos’ water project para daghan pang Tomasino mahatagan og serbisyo labi na sa atong patubig program para sa mga remote communities,” Evangelista said.

Evangelista said the establishment of community based water facilities through the installation of jetmatic pump in remote areas would continue especially for those areas that do not have water connection due to inaccessibility of piped water, adding that a jetmatic pump is an alternative way of collecting water through manual operation to move groundwater from the aquifer up to the surface.

Municipal Administrator Evangelista-Lapina said the Evangelista administration resorted to strengthen the community-based “Tomasino Agos” Water Project because the previous administration’s failure to timely implement the Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig para sa Lahat (SALINTUBIG) program in several barangays.

SALINTUBIG aims to contribute to the attainment of the goal of providing potable water to the entire Santo Tomas. It is designed to provide water supply systems for waterless municipalities and intend to enhance/improve local capacities of the Santo Tomas LGU in planning, implementation and operation and management of water supply facilities in a sustainable manner.

Marred with perceived corruption, Evangelista-Lapina said that SALINTUBIG program became a subject of the Commission On Audit (COA) because of some discrepancies in the project implementation.

She, however, assured the public that with SALINTUBIG’s failure to serve its purpose, the Evangelista administration is keen in ensuring the well-being of the communities by providing alternative water sources for these remote communities. “

Evangelista-Lapina assured the public that the Santo Tomas LGU would continue in its commitment to implement realistic and corrupt-free projects aimed to improve the people’s quality of life, welfare and development by introducing alternative ways of water collection.
