Some 914 tricycle drivers and operators here, in coordination with concerned national agencies, have received assistance from Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Saturday, June 26 at the Municipal Covered Court, Fd. Rd. 3, Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte.
The team of Senator Bong Go led by Director Rodrigo “Reggy” Gidugos provided all 914 beneficiaries with food packs, face masks, face shields, and medicine packs.
Selected recipients also received bicycles, computer tablets while some beneficiaries received pairs of shoes. The Santo Tomas LGU headed by Mayor Ernesto Evangelista also gave away long sleeves, plastic barriers and other COVID-19 related merchandise.
Through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, DSWD provided financial assistance to the beneficiaries amounting to P3, 000. The AICS program is DSWD’s protective service program for the poor, marginalized and vulnerable or disadvantaged individuals.
It can be recalled that Mayor Ernesto Evangelista and Municipal Administrator Atty. Elisa Evangelista-Lapiña tapped the Senator Christopher “Bong” Go for another round of assistance intended for the transport group in Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte.
In her speech, Municipal Administrator Atty. Elisa Evangelista-Lapiña said the Evangelista administration would continue to provide assistance, especially financial help, to all Tomasino pedicab drivers and operators, given the ongoing pandemic.
The Santo Tomas LGU thanked the Senator Bong Go, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and other national agencies for their positive response to help the transport group of Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte.
