Mayor Inday Sara Duterte has spearheaded the launching of Lingap Para sa Bayan, a one-stop-shop featuring local and national government agencies that provide financial and other medical support to indigent patients from the city and other provinces.
The facility is located across the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), the same area being occupied by the Lingap Para sa Mahirap.
It will also be where the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office will set shop.
The one-stop shop across SPMC will only be temporary as all offices under it will soon be transferred inside the hospital compound once the the construction of a P20-million office is completed.
“The one-stop-shop will make it easier for indigent patients because they no longer need to go from one office to another to get medical assistance,” Mayor Inday Sara said during the launching of the one-stop-shop on Friday.
The city government has provided financial and medical support to Dabawenyos for years now through the Lingap para sa Mahirap program.
Under the program, the city government provides health assistance to Davao residents — including hospital financial assistance, funeral/burial assistance, and pharmaceutical assistance.
The Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), a retained Department of Health (DOH) hospital, mainly provides the treatment of patients.
Through the Lingap para sa Bayan center, even patients from outside Davao will be accommodated and referred to concerned agencies. CIO
