Davao City’s construction and tourism industries were expected to get a big boost as The Philippine Building and Construction Expo (Philbex) and the together launched a 4-day double-header exposition in Davao City.
The twin expos at the SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang in Davao City started on May 11.
The Philbex show has 80 booths by participants from the construction, engineering and real estate industries, including the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP), Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (Pice), and Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID).
Tlex has 34 booths put up by participants from the hotel, resort, airline, bank and tourism sectors.
The twin-billed expo, according to City Tourism head Generose Tecson, further established Davao City as a favorite choice as a Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing, and Exhibitions (MICE) destination.
MICE is a government-private sector initiative aimed to boost the country’s tourism and lure investments.
As Mindanao’s premier city, Davao City is a top MICE location, and is considered as the country’s “Convention City.”
