President dismisses anew speculations of another military rule By Lilian C. Mellejor
President Rodrigo Duterte dismissed speculations of another Martial Law under his administration, saying, “it will not really improve the lives of the Filipino people.”
He slammed some people in Manila for spreading such speculation every time he raises his anger on controversial issues.
“Martial Law? For what? For killing people? The military won’t accede to illegal orders,” he said.
“We don’t get anything from Martial Law,” he added in Filipino.
The President said this following allegations that the bombing in Marawi and discovery of a bomb near the United States Embassy were a prelude to the declaration of Martial Law by his administration.
“They (some people in Manila) think if I get angry I will declare Martial Law,” he told participants of the 3rd ARMM (Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao) Local Government Summit in Davao City at SMX Convention Center on Thursday afternoon.
The President said, “I do not build a country over the bones of the Muslims and Christians.” (PNA)
