Trillanes twits Roxas lead over Binay in latest SWS survey

Senator Antonio Trillanes said the latest survey on presidential preference for the 2016 election by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) with Senator Grace Poe in the lead and Mar Roxas pushing Vice President Jejomar Binay to the third slot is nothing but propaganda.

Questioning the methodology used by SWS, Trillanes said Roxas would benefit from the survey.

Roxas, former Interior Secretary, is the candidate of the ruling Liberal Party of President Benigno Aquino, who is winding up his term next year.

Roxas, Trillanes said, can use the SWS survey as propaganda that he has overtaken  Binay.

Binay is the candidate of the opposition United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).

Trillanes, of the independent Magdalo Group,  has nothing to say about the ranking of Poe, whom he is supporting in the coming polls.

Poe has declared her bid for the presidency with Senator Chiz Escuderio as running mate under a yet to be formed independent coalition with other parties.

Previous surveys had Poe toppling down Binay from his long hold of the Number One slot, with Roxas, hogging the bottom or in a statistical tie with Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte at third place.

In the SWS survey conducted from September 2 to 5, respondents were asked: Who do you think are the good leaders who should succeed Pres. Aquino as President? You may give up to three names.”

Trillanes said he wondered why respondents had to give three names.

He said that there’s no such thing as third choice for president.

The result of the SWS survey could not be used as basis for voters’ preference because the methodology used is not valid, he said.

The survey had Poe netting 47 percent; Roxas with with 39; Binay with 35 and Duterte at a low 15 percent.
