MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles ® ) – Shortly after Philippines Vice President Jejomar Binay tendered his resignation, President Aquino asked the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to call for a special election to fill the vacated position, with about a year remaining in the term.
Binay sent a letter to Aquino informing him of his irrevocable resignation.
Aquino and Binay, who are from different political parties, have always been at odds with each other from the very start of their six-year terms.
Binay’ s resignation letter was a mere one sentence.
Aquino failed to notice that Binay’s resignation was for his Cabinet position, not his elective position as vice president.
Unfortunately, Aquino’s request with the elections commission was also irrevocable, so the special elections will proceed.
