TOGETHER AGAIN. Cooking up for the 2016 election is a Duterte-Poe tandem.
With their high showing in surveys, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte as the standard bearer and Senator Grace Poe as his running mate is the team to beat in the 2016 election.
Ramirez is one of key men behind the Listening Tour of Duterte which is going around the country to promote a shift to a federal form of government and get peoples’ pulse on a Duterte presidency.
He said the Listening Tour, a series of speaking engagements and forums that had already reached several key cities, gave Duterte a wider reach and a chance to speak on his visions for the country mired in rising crime and bureaucratic thievery that is in thirst for a new leadership.
Ramirez also said the Listening Tour exposed Duterte as a likely candidate for President in 2016 and helped push his rating to third place, behind Vice President Jejomar Binay and Senator Grace Poe, in the latest Pulse Asia survey.
The survey tells it all, said Ramirez, the coordinator for Luzon of the Listening Tour.
Ramirez said he was confident that Duterte (Liberal Party) could further rise in the ratings game in future surveys to place him on the line as standard bearer of the administration party headed by President Benigno Aquino.
Poe, a first-time senator aligned with the Aquino party, has said earlier she was not ready for the presidency, with sectors suggesting she should first hone her political acumen as vice president before taking crack at Malacanang.
Bold predictions by political analysts say LP may ditch Roxas for his poor survey showing and find a winner in Duterte as its standard bearer.
