(UPDATED) – Vice President Jejomar Binay was a ‘no show’ in today’s hearing of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.
Without even the ghost of the embattled Binay to answer allegations of corruption levelled against him and his family, the Blue Ribbon subcommittee, whose invitations to attend its hearing were refused by Binay, proceeded with its continuing hearing probing the alleged over-pricing of the Makati City Parking Building built when Binay was Mayor of Makati City.
Binay reportedly is in Cebu City today on a speaking engagement.
as a lion, the guilty flees.”
Earlier, reports said the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chaired by Senator Teofisto Guingona will push through with its hearing today even if the Vice President will not attend.
The Guingona committee investigation picks on a resolution authored by Senator Antonio Trillanes seeking a probe on alleged anomalous transactions in the construction of the Makati City Parking Building during the administration of former Makati City Mayor Binay.
Binay had refused to respond to invitation by the Blue Ribbon subcommittee chaired by Senator Koko Pimentel, which initially conducted the probe.
The Guingona committee set its own probe after Binay said it would attend if the investigation is conducted by the Blue Ribbon mother committee.
News5 reports that Binay had cancelled a speaking engagement today in Cebu City apparently to allow him to attend the Blue Ribbon hearing set this morning, November 6.
