Mayor Rodrigo Duterte will lead the 39-member Davao City delegation to the biennial 8th Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philipines-East Asean Growth Area (Bimp-Eaga) Friendship Games slated December 6 to 10 in Labuan, Malaysia.
Christopher “Bong” Go, Duterte’s executive assistant, will accompany the mayor to the event where the Davao City delegation is the lone entry from the Philippines, said Sports Development Division of the City Mayor’s Office (SDD-CMO) officer-in-charge William “Butch” Ramirez.
The city will compete in four different sports events: beach volley, sepak takraw, athletics and badminton.
The city government will shoulder the P3 million expenses of the players, SDD-CMO supervising administrative officer Luz Imsave P. Obial said.
We’re so honored to not only represent Davao City but being the lone delegation in behalf of our country, Ramirez said.
Duterte committed to send a delegation to the Games when organizing Labuan Corporation chair Datuk Rozman Bin Datuk HJ. Isli paid him a courtesy visit at the Marco Polo Hotel last June.
