Boulder Face Challenge and Visit Samal will be among two main tourism events and projects the Davao Region will sell during the year-long Visit Philippines 2015.
Boulder Face Challenge, which starts at Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur, is an annual international summer event — a 24-hour rigorous race to the top of the Philippines’ tallest peak, the 10,000-meter high Mt. Apo, covering four disciplines: mountain biking, trekking, road running and white water tubing.
Visit Samal Islands is a year-round project aiming to make Samal Island and the smaller Talikud Island as the Boracay of the South.
We need to come up with various activities and events for the whole year, said Eden Josephine L. David, Department of Tourism (DOT) Davao Region tourism officer.
Visit Philippines is a year-round annual project of the Department of Tourism (DOT) aiming to place the country’s destinations in the world tourism map.
For Visit Philippines 2015, we would have a whole set of events and destinations throughout the year, said David.
This early, David said DOT Davao Regiion has also listed Mt. Hamiguitan in Davao Oriental, which has been listed recently as Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Visit Davao Fun Sale (VDFS), which will cover the whole region; and the Palarong Pambansa if it will be hosted by Tagum City in Davao del Norte.
