As peace makes significant headway in Davao Oriental, the provincial government highlighted the positive effect it has made in boosting local economic development, during the culmination of the Peace Month Celebration on Tuesday, September 30.
Through Presidential Proclamation Number 675 last July 10, 2004, the whole month of September had been declared as the Peace Month. Now on its 11th year, the proclamation is a way of calling the Philippine Government, Civic Society Groups, People’s Organizations and Non-government Agencies to work altogether for Peace and to sustain it.
Vice Governor Joel ‘Mayo’ Z. Almario lauded the ceaseless efforts of the Provincial Local Government Unit, under the leadership of Gov. Corazon N. Malanyaon, who evidently made Davao Oriental a promising hub for business.
According to the vice governor, the ‘insurgency-free’ state of the province attracted large investment.
Almario said massive local development efforts through provincial government initiatives have been drawing more businesses.
The provincial government has been expediting projects to support economic activities, particularly tourism and agriculture.
Almario urged people to support these endeavors as ‘it triggers more economic and social opportunities.’
Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon said that investing in peace efforts is rewarding as it elicits development for the people.
