Detained pork scam queen Janet Lim-Napoles has taken seriously the warning of Senator Miriam Santiago that she could be assassinated by senators she had linked to her P10 billion Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam.
The multi-billion-pesos PDAF racket had lawmakers fattening their pockets with kickbacks Napoles doled out in millions of pesos as commission for PDAF-funded ghost projects of her bogus NGOs.
Considered as a high-risk prisoner, Napoles is detained by her lonesome in a small tightly-guarded bungalow at Fort Sto. Domingo for another case: illegal detention filed by BenHur Luy, a close relative and former aide who spilled the beans on her PDAF racket
Her lawyers, according to reliable sources, are now preparing a motion to oppose any Sandiganbayan order that would incarcerate senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada and Bong Revilla in Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
Napoles had named the senators as among those who benefited from her PDAF scam.
This developed as plunder and graft charges against Napoles, and the three senators were raffled out to three separate divisions of the Sandiganbayan.
The warrants of arrest against them are imminent once the Sandiganbayan courts find probable cause.
The sources said a draft of the motion of Napoles’ lawyers seeking to prevent detention of the senators at Fort Sto. Domingo cited records of proceedings and media reports in one of the hearings on the PDAF scam by the Senate blue ribbon committee chaired by senator Teofisto Guingona.
The hearing was attended by Napoles and Santiago.
If Enrile is the most guilty, say it now so they won’t have you killed. That man has a guard in his bathroom with a long firearm. Don’t underestimate Enrile. That old man still has venom in him, part of the draft of the motion of Napoles’ lawyers says, picking from Santiago’s statement at the Senate hearing where she warned Napoles she could be assassinated for spilling the beans on Enrile and the other senators she implicated in the PDAF scam.
Tell the truth before the senators affected have you assassinated, the motion quotes Santiago as telling Napoles.
Our client would be a shot away from those who wanted her dead, said the lawyers in the motion.
But the fears of Napoles and her lawyers may be misplaced.
Malacanang reportedly has issued a statement that the three senators can choose where they want to be jailed.
According to The Adobo Chronicles, the three senators revealed their personal choices of where they want to be detained:
- Enrile, now 90 years old, said he wants to be locked in at Golden Acres in Quezon City, a home for the elderly.
- Estrada said he wants to be jailed at Manila’s City Hall, next to the office of his dad, Joseph Estrada who is the mayor of Manila.
- Revilla said his preference is to be sequestered inside one of the recording studios of the television network ABS-CBN in Quezon City so he could continue to record songs and music videos like the one he unveiled during his privilege speech at the Senate Floor earlier. ROGER M. BALANZA
