The Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos) and the Department of Tourism (DOT) have relaunced the Visit Samal project, that last year perked up visitors to Igacos City by 64 percent, in a bid to further position the island as the summer capital of Davao region.
Visit Samal campaign is a marketing strategy conceptualized by the DOT and the local tourism players to boost tourist arrivals in the island.
Tourists arrivals to the island peak during the summer months until July.
City administrator Cleto Bravo Gales Jr. said the tourism thrust banks on the island’s underwater garden and the rich marine life, even as it Igacos is becoming an island for parties loike Boracay.
“The coral garden is what makes Samal different from others,” Gales said, adding the Monforte bat sanctuary is another major attraction.
Gales also the mountain tourism in the island offers tourists an eco-adventure experience in more than 70 caves spread across Samal.
